Our Family
THE HEART OF IN A GOOD WAY
Family is an intricate and vital part of a successful re-entry to community living. Family interaction is a high priority at IN A GOOD WAY and our clients are encouraged to interact with friends and family in a positive and productive manner.
Our clients are considered our family. Our clients’ families and friends are our extended family. Our extended family is invited and encouraged to visit friends and loved ones at all appropriate functions at IN A GOOD WAY such as classes, storytelling, Pow Wows, Sweats, cultural activities, etc.
Our visiting schedule is designed to be considerate of varied work and school schedules of our family. Comfortable and inviting visiting areas and hours are available in our main house, and on our grounds and porches. Visitors are not permitted in clients’ bedrooms, off-limit sections of the Main House or off-limit sections of the Long House. Visitation is not allowed during meeting times, class times, or meal times without previous arrangements.
Picnic meals can be provided for a family visit and should be scheduled with the program director at least one week in advance of the visit.
Family and friends must adhere to IN A GOOD WAY rules of conduct when visiting the IN A GOOD WAY facility or participating in any IN A GOOD WAY activity. Any misconduct could result in removal from the property, and restrictions on future visits.
“Keeping families strong today is one of our chief concerns as a nation. Before we can have a world filled with people who genuinely care for one another, we must have countries, states, cities, and rural areas populated by caring folks. Where does this much-hoped for mushrooming effect begin? Why in the family, of course. Strong family bonds create a safe haven for all who are part of it. It sets the example of how the world should be. It creates individuals who care about others.”
