THE LONG HOUSE: UPSTAIRS
Bedrooms, Activity Rooms and Lunch room

Ten(10) bedrooms upstairs are available.  Single rooms are assigned to trainees.  Room requests are filled according to availability and seniority.

All amenities including linens, lamps, window treatments, furniture, and wall decorations are provided. All amenities remain the property of IAGW.  All amenities are marked for each individual room and inventoried upon admission and check out.  A security deposit for the amenities is charged upon acceptance.  The deposit will be returned at the time of check out and completion of a satisfactory inventory.  A trainee may personalize his room with appropriate decor which must be approved by IAGW staff before changes are made.

An activity room is provided at each end of the long house.  One of the activity rooms has a pool table, TV, and card and game tables.  The other activity room has a library and card tables and is designed for quiet games and hobbies.  A lunch room holds a refrigerator and microwave for assembling continental or premade breakfasts, lunch, and snacks.

THE LONG HOUSE: DOWNSTAIRS
Work Rooms, Laundry, Exercise Room, Storage, Dining room, and Kitchen

Hobby rooms will be available. These rooms are used for teaching our trainees the basics of Native American handwork as well as making farm accessories.

An exercise area is available with appropriate equipment for all staff and trainees.  Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. until 30 minutes prior to lights out and should not be used at times that will interfer with work schedule, classes or counseling.

The kitchen on the first floor is used to cook meals for the facility, canning and freezing of the food grown in our garden. Meals emphasize healthy, home grown, and tasty foods.

The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen.  The dining room has seating to accommodate our trainees for the family- style meals served daily. Additional seating may be added as needed for invited guests.

Card-operated laundry machines are available for clients and staff daily from 8:00 a.m. until 30 minutes prior to lights out.

MAIN HOUSE AND OFFICE

The main house, which is adjacent to the Long House, provides offices for all staff, visiting areas for families, a Great Room.  The Main House will house the farm manager and family and three (3) trainees.

The facility is eco-friendly.  It uses  solar and wind to fuel the facility when possible and consequently has low energy bills.  Solar is used to power the electric fence for our goats and sheep, which also allows us to be free of strung wire or laid cable out in the fields.

Our building materials are eco-friendly.  This handicapped-accessible property is open to the public as an example of green building, and our trainees’ take groups on tours of the facility by appointment to show “how green farming/living can be accomplished.”

Outdoor underground cisterns catch rainwater during the rainy season for use during dry summers. Gray water will be recycled to water plants surrounding the houses.  Wind and solar powered pumps will be used to distribute the water for irrigation.  Composting toilets will be used in our out-buildings – the barn and milk house.
