Confidentiality
Confidentiality increase the likelihood that released persons will seek assistance. It covers our clients as well as individuals or agencies providing activities related to alcohol and drug abuse education, training, treatment, rehabilitation, research, and job searches.
IAGW does not disclose any client-identifying information outside of the program or outside a Qualified Service Agreement.
Disclosures may be given with consent to: medical personnel; other programs; central registries; attorneys; family and friends; third party payers; employers; and conditional release situations.
Disclosures may be given without consent for: medical emergencies; research, audit or evaluation; court order (may be oral); crime committed on premises; and child abuse or neglect.
CONFIDENTIALITY SPECIFIC TO IN A GOOD WAY
Confidentiality is important to the success of our program. Information received from one resident is NOT shared with other residents, or with anyone outside the staff. Information received from other staff members about our residents is not to be shared with anyone outside the staff members of IN A GOOD WAY.
Staff members may NOT promise secrecy or confidentiality to residents in regards to sharing information with other staff members.
We will not disclose that a resident even resides at IAGW. If someone calls the office asking for a resident, IAGW staff says, “if someone by that name lives here, the caller can reach them by calling the phone for all residents.”
Our staff members deserve respect for their privacy also. IN A GOOD WAY business stays within the IN A GOOD WAY staff. IAGW does not give the home phone number of a staff member to anyone except another staff member.
