Acceptance Requirements
A man seeking training at IN A GOOD WAY must:
- Be over 18 years of age;
- Have served his sentence and be eligible with regard to parole and probation constraints;
- Be free of alcohol and non-prescription chemicals for at least 30 days prior to admission as verified by an outside drug testing facility approved by IN A GOOD WAY (and paid for by the potential trainee;)
- Be capable of self-care;
- Be willing to work on the farm, and pay his fair share of living expenses;
- Be a member of a Native American tribe or be recognized in the community as Native American;
- Agree to random urinalysis.
Applicants for acceptance to IN A GOOD WAY are interviewed and assessed by the operations manager, or the program director before acceptance.
SPECIAL POPULATIONS GUIDELINES
Trainees with special needs are accepted based on our ability to serve those needs. Those hearing and visually impaired are accepted on their ability to move freely within the physical facility without danger to themselves or others. Residents with diagnosed mental illnesses or psychological disorders will need a special plan to assure that he is complying with medication recommendations and is under the care of a licensed mental health professional and is no danger to himself or others.
ALTERNATIVE HOUSING
If space cannot be provided for potential trainees who do not need family housing, IAGW will provide referrals to other appropriate housing in the nearby area. Also, trainees with families will be assisted to find housing in the area near the IN A GOOD WAY facility.
